Science is the lens through which we can begin to understand ourselves and the world around us.

Our Key Stage 3 programme of study follows the National Curriculum for Science. The course aims to provide learning opportunities which stretch the minds of the ablest students while at the same time allowing less able students to achieve their potential. Through the year we have covered some of the key basic concepts in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Practical work has played an important role in both teaching the ‘scientific method’ and reinforcing the ideas studied.

GCSE SCIENCE

As a core subject, Science is compulsory for all pupils.

Double Award

This course introduces students to fundamental concepts in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and helps them to learn practical skills through investigations. At the end of the course students receive a Double award (two IGCSEs) in Science that allow progression to A Level and beyond.

Triple Award

For students with a passion for science and who wish to pursue a career in the sciences, medicine, engineering or similar demanding fields, there is an option to study for the individual sciences. At the end of the course students will be awarded an IGCSE in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Triple Science offers the same fundamental concepts, but gives time to study a greater breadth and depth of content.
