Head of History

Permanent, full time
Required for January 2025
Salary: Competitive, depending on qualifications and experience 

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, innovative, and enthusiastic full-time Head of History.

You will be heading up a well-resourced and popular department which delivers GCSE History and both A Level History and A Level Politics. The department has membership of the History Association, with all its teaching materials and CPD.

At Luckley House, History is a very popular option for both GCSE and A Level, and many of our students have gone on to read the subject at University. We follow the AQA specification, teaching Nazi Germany, Medicine, the Age of Elizabeth, and Conflict and Tension in Asia at GCSE. At A Level, we teach the English Civil War and Russian history from 1855 to 1957. Politics, which follows the Edexcel specification, has become an increasingly popular choice at A Level.

The successful applicant will combine a love of History with strong organisational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work and collaborate with others. Heads of Department are line-managed by the Deputy Head (Academic) who will ensure a thorough and supportive handover.

Job profile – Head of History


Teacher of MFL

Permanent, part time (approx. 80% FTE)
Required for January 2025
Salary: Competitive, depending on qualifications and experience 

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, innovative, and enthusiastic part-time Teacher of MFL (approx. 80% FTE to be worked over 5 days).

You will be joining a motivated team, comprising four teachers covering French, German and Spanish, and three Foreign Language Assistants, to deliver AQA specifications at both GCSE and A Level.

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach French up to and including A Level and Spanish to at least GCSE.

The ability to teach an additional language would be an advantage.
