Short Term Boarding Package

We offer a boarding package for international students wishing to come to Luckley for a minimum of one term into Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12, to improve their English language and experience a British education. 

An all-inclusive fee of *£14,500 per term (2024/25) includes all food, books, extra-curricular activities, most boarding trips, the loan of a Microsoft Surface device, EAL lessons and transport to and from the airport.

EAL Provision

Two hours per week to include conversational group lessons geared around general everyday and academic English, and if required, for focusing on writing and grammar.

Boarding Experience

Pupils will share a bedroom with at least one other boarder. Wherever possible we will ensure that pupils of the same nationality are not sharing so as to encourage English language speaking. There are shared common rooms for all boarders to relax and socialise together during their free time.

Trips And Extra-Curricular Activities

There is a full programme of after-school activities available throughout the school week and all boarders are encouraged to participate. Weekend trips will include cultural visits to London and Windsor, as well as leisure activities.
*In addition, optional year group or subject related trips may be available at extra cost.

Academic Curriculum

Year 7- 8 pupils will follow a broad, balanced programme of study including: English, Drama, Mathematics, Science, *Modern Languages (French, German, Spanish), Engineering, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Art, Computer Science, Music, Photography, Physical Education, Textiles, Food and Nutrition and 4U, our Personal and Social Education programme. *Choice of language

Year 9 and 10 pupils will study the core subjects of Maths, English Language, English Literature, Science and MFL and will choose four further subjects from the following: Art, Business, Computer Science, Drama, Design Technology, Food Preparation & Nutrition, Geography, History, Music, Music Tech, Photography, Physical Education and Religious Studies.

Sixth Form students will choose three A Level subjects from the subject blocks.

Microsoft Surface

We will loan pupils a Microsoft Service for the duration of their stay. There is a £500 deposit which will be refunded when the pupil leaves, providing the device has not been damaged or lost. The Surfaces are used in most lessons and also for prep and personal study.

Report – Study Record

At the end of the term, each student will receive a record of study for each subject, as well as a personal report from the Form Tutor and Head of Boarding.

Transport

Our boarding staff will transport students to and from the airport at the beginning and end of each half term.

Uniform Requirements

The school will loan short term pupils a blazer, jumper, skirt (girls) and a tie (boys) for the duration of their stay at Luckley. Science overalls will be provided.

Items to bring from home
Girls: white blouses, short white socks, navy tights, smart black shoes.
Boys: charcoal trousers, white shirts, short grey socks, smart black shoes.
Games Wear: weather appropriate PE kit (any colour). We will provide second-hand school kit where available.
Equipment: Sports bag, shin pads, mouth guard

  • One smart outfit for formal wear

  • Tops (jumpers, cardigans, shirts/blouses) x 4 maximum in total
  • Bedroom slippers, not mule type
  • Non-uniform shoes (not clogs, backless or stilettos)
  • Underwear; bras (3) – if worn (girls), pants (7)

  • 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels

  • Adaptors for UK use
  • Backpack for day trips

Medical Insurance

International boarding pupils who are staying at Luckley House School for less than 6 months should arrange adequate medical insurance for the duration of their stay. If your study program is 6 months or longer, you can access healthcare services through the NHS without the need for private health insurance as you will have paid a healthcare surcharge as part of your immigration application.  Pupils who are staying longer than six months will also need to register with a local GP which the school will assist with.

All students from overseas must have a Guardian based in the UK in case of an emergency
